As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Second Order welcomes articles of the high standard in any branch of philosophy and related fields. The manuscripts should be original and should not have been previously published, and not under consideration by any other journal. Contributions should not be more than 7,000 words in length, including an abstract of not more than 250 words submitted as a Microsoft Word document (or a file compatible with MSWord). Authors are advised to follow the Chicago Manual of Style (17th Edition) in preparing a manuscript.

Secord Order is a peer-reviewed journal. All papers submitted will go through preliminary checks by the editors to confirm appropriateness for the journal. Thereafter, the manuscript will be reviewed anonymously.

Papers accepted will be subjected to further editing, which are not necessarily substantive, but stylistic, in order to conform to the standard of the journal. The final product will be sent to the author for confirmation before publishing.

All contributions are to be submitted electronically to the editor through philosophy@oauife.edu.ng

Offprints

Contributors will receive two complimentary copies of the journal. Offprints can be ordered through the Managing Editors, either on receipt of letters of acceptance of articles or at the time galley proofs are being returned to the Editors. The rates for offprints which are subjects to change without prior notice are sent to individual contributors along with their letters of acceptance and/or galley proofs.
