Second Order: an African Journal of Philosophy welcomes well research articles, critical notices, and book reviews in Philosophy, focusing on core and contemporary issues in Metaphysics, Epistemology, Logic, Ethics, Aesthetics, and History of Philosophy, for publication in the Volume 3, Number 2, (January) 2020 of the Journal.
The manuscripts should be original and not have been previously published, and not under consideration by any other journal. Contribution should not be more than 7,000 words, including an abstract of not more than 250 words submitted as a Microsoft Word Document (or with a file compatible with MS Word). Authors are advised to follow the Chicago Manual of Style (17th Edition) in preparing a manuscript.
Second Order is a peer review journal. Each paper submitted will be subjected to a preliminary decision of the editorial Board to confirm its appropriateness for the journal. Thereafter, the manuscript will undergo anonymous review.
Paper accepted will be subjected to further editing, which are not necessarily substantive, but stylistic in order to conform to the standard of the journal. The final product draft will be sent to the author for confirmation before publishing.
The journal is published annually be the Department of Philosophy, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. Its aim is to publish articles of high standard in any branch of philosophy and related fields. While the journal welcomes articles of philosophical interests in any area and tradition of philosophy, it also shows special interest in articles which encourage philosophizing in the context of diverse cultural thought and belief systems such as Africa, Asia, Europe, etc. Although the journal belongs to the Anglo-Saxon tradition in philosophy, it is not committed to any philosophical tradition or ideological view. It is an internationally peer refereed research journal.
Kindly send your contributions to the editor. We are constrained to receiving papers sent by email attachment in MS Word. The deadline for submission is 4th October, 2019. Authors will be notified of the outcome of review of their papers after thorough peer review process.
The Journal is scheduled for publication in January, 2020.
